This is the third recall recently for Diamond. As I mentioned above, Diamond Naturals Lamb Meal & Rice was recalled on April 6. Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul, which is manufactured by Diamond, was recalled on April 26. And, due to the problems with their South Carolina plant, delivery of all pet food manufactured in there was suspended earlier this month.

According to Susan Thixton, of TruthAboutPetFood, Diamond also manufactures the following pet foods, although she wasn’t able to confirm if they are made at the South Carolina plant.

    Solid Gold
    Canidae/Felidae
    Natural Balance
    Kirkland (Costco Brand)
    Chicken Soup
    Taste of the Wild
    4-Health (Tractor Supply Brand)

Pet Food Recall: single lot of DuMOR® Poultry Layer 16% Crumbles

    Posted: 30 Apr 2012 11:13 AM PDT

Limited Recall Of DuMOR® Poultry Grower/Finisher Bags Containing DuMOR® Poultry Layer 16% Crumbles Because of Possible Animal Health RiskThis recall is for a very small number of bags of chicken feed, sold in Texas.

Feed Solutions is voluntarily recalling a single lot of DuMOR® Poultry Layer 16% Crumbles, which was incorrectly packaged and shipped in DuMOR® Poultry Grower/Finisher bags. The incorrectly packaged feed, while appropriate for layers, can be potentially harmful if fed to young chicks as a grower/finisher. One animal-health complaint has been reported to date. The packaging error was discovered during the subsequent investigation.

Only a single lot, produced March 15, is included in the recall. The product was produced for Tractor Supply Company and distributed to 12 stores in north and west Texas between March 22 and April 12, 2012. No other products or lot numbers are affected. The tag on the product being recalled reads:

    Item No. – 0046445
    Formula No. – 60Y9
Description – DuMOR Poultry Layer 16% Crumbles
    Lot No. – 2MAR15OKC1

While the 50-pound yellow-brown and blue bag identifies the product as DuMOR® Grower/Finisher, the tag on the sewing strip correctly identifies the product as DuMOR® Poultry Layer 16% Crumbles.

DuMOR® Poultry Grower/Finisher purchasers should check the bag and tag. If an inconsistency is found, they should stop feeding the product and return it to the store for a full refund or replacement.

For more information on the product recall, customers should contact their Tractor Supply Company location, or Feed Solutions Customer Service at 615-315-4092 or 615-315-4090 (Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CDT).

The release can be found on the FDA website: Limited Recall Of DuMOR® Poultry Grower/Finisher Bags Containing DuMOR® Poultry Layer 16% Crumbles Because of Possible Animal Health Risk.
