    Iams pet food recall

    First let me say that I’m posting this (potential) recall with caution. I say that because I have not been able to confirm it with Iams or the FDA.

    Price Chopper, an east coast grocery store outlet,  is reporting a recall of some varieties of Iams cat food and dog food. According to their website, the following dry pet foods have been recalled due to aflatoxin:

    Iams Original with Chicken Cat Food
    UPC 1901403915
    Lot Number 12794177D3
    size 6.8 lbs.

    Iams Original with Chicken Cat Food
    UPC 1901410504
    Lot Number 12794177I5
    size 4 lbs.

    Iams Lamb Meal with Rice Dog Food
    UPC 1901403735
    Lot Number 12794177J4
    size 15 lbs.

    Reason for Recall:
    The product is being recalled due to elevated aflotoxin levels.

    Again, I have not been able to confirm this with anyone at Iams yet. I’ve emailed a couple people at Iams though and will post again as soon as I hear something.
