    100711: Opening This Weekend

    Posted: 07 Oct 2011 02:58 AM PDT

Boxing & Politics On The Big Screen

You might think both subjects are available in one new movie this weekend. After all, many times politics does turn into a boxing match of dirty politics. Candidates through mud, strike blows and dig up dirt all in the hopes of tarnishing the image of their opponent instead of telling us what they plan to do in order to improve the economy or any other real life problem facing the nation these days.

But…there are two new movies opening this weekend. One dealing with cyber-boxing the other dealing politics.

    New Movies This Weekend

    Real Steel – PG-13 on 3,440 screens
Hugh Jackman’s Charlie is a down-and-out former boxer during a time when the sport is ruled by robot fighters. He joins his estranged son in building and training a robot that has a chance to compete for a championship. Evangeline Lilly also stars.

The Ides of March – Rated R on 2,199 screens
Ryan Gosling is a Press Secretary for a Governor, played by George Clooney, running for President. As an important Ohio primary draws near, Gosling’s Stephen is pulled into a political scandal. Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood and Jeffrey Wright also star in the drama which was directed by Clooney.
